Thomas Edison is rumored to have inspired his laboratory staff by saying, “There’s a way to do it better – find it.” Edison’s work was important, and it required continual innovation in order to stay relevant. We feel that our work at Sunset View Cemetery & Mortuary is no different.
Some – especially the families we serve – may even consider our work more important. After all, our beautiful cemetery, with its panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco Bay, and the downtown San Francisco skyline, is the final resting place for hundreds of our neighbor’s grandparents, parents, sisters, spouses, brothers, and other loved ones. We also work closely with Bay Area families to plan a meaningful funeral service, visitation, and reception that pays tribute to a life and lays a foundation for building a family legacy.
Could there be a more important task? There isn’t for our compassionate, experienced Sunset View team.
Although Sunset View Cemetery & Mortuary is an important part of Bay Area history, having been founded back in 1908 as a small, country cemetery in the Berkeley Hills, we always have our eye on innovation so we can provide our families with the highest levels of comfort and convenience. That’s exactly why we completely renovated our building in 2017. Every detail – from lighting, to furniture, to décor, was chosen with our families’ needs in mind. Our facility now offers the comfort of a modern, home-like atmosphere along with the convenience of state-of-the-art amenities, including all new audio and visual equipment. Our private arrangement offices are now decorated in soft colors, warm lighting, and with comfortable furniture. It’s our hope that they provide a peaceful atmosphere where you can plan your own, or your loved one’s service.
Whether your plans include cremation or traditional burial, we can also offer you the use of our new reception room, which can accommodate up to 80 of your guests for either a seated dinner or a standing reception. Our beautiful outdoor patio provides a more intimate space for a dozen people to enjoy the beautiful Bay Area weather during a farewell gathering.
We’ve made a lot of changes to our facility, but one thing will never change – our commitment to offering a wide variety of funeral services to Bay Area families along with compassionate, professional care.
