July 4th is one of the most exciting holidays to celebrate here in the Bay Area, and our staff members here at Sunset View Cemetery look forward to it each summer. Between stunning fireworks displays and fun-filled patriotic events happening in El Sobrante, Berkeley, and Oakland, there’s so much to enjoy with family and friends at this time of year.

Here are some of the best places to watch the fireworks in the Bay Area:

Fisherman’s Wharf

We can’t compile a list of fireworks spots in San Francisco without mentioning Fisherman’s Wharf. It’s the most popular place to be on July 4th and for good reasons. There are lots of fun spots from which to enjoy a great view of the light show, whether you hunker down at Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, the Cannery, or elsewhere. Some even choose to watch the show from boats on the Bay! The show starts at 9:30 p.m., but try to arrive a few hours early, as these touristy areas tend to fill up quickly.

Crissy Field

Less crowded but offering the same incredible waterfront views, Crissy Field makes a great place for to watch July 4th fireworks. The trail winding through this beautifully restored green space is popular with walkers and bikers throughout the Bay Area. Beaches, picnic tables, and peaceful views of the surrounding marshes make for a memorable viewing experience.

Redwood City

Families and groups who wish to make a day of it should head to Redwood City for July 4th. A delicious pancake breakfast kicks off at 8 a.m. followed by the largest Independence Day parade in Northern California featuring colonial musicians, colorful floats, and more! The parade begins at 10 a.m., and fireworks start around 9:30 p.m.

Pleasant Hill

Pleasant Hill is another fun place to spend July 4th from morning to night. Celebrations in this charming city begin at 7:45 a.m. with a well-attended 5K run. The parade starts downtown at 9:30 a.m. followed by live music, food, and fun in nearby Pleasant Hill Park. Fireworks begin at 8:45 p.m.

Twin Peaks

San Francisco’s highest summit after Mount Davidson, Twin Peaks provide panoramic views of the Bay and 4th of July fireworks. Their convenient location at the city center makes it easy for families throughout the Bay Area to take in a dazzling fireworks show.

To all the families throughout our community—Happy 4th of July!
