Did you know there are two simple words that have the power to transform your health and happiness? Those words are, “Thank you.” As our team at Sunset View Cemetery & Mortuary can attest, gratitude is a life changer. As we help families in Berkeley, Pinole, Oakland, and beyond through some of life’s most difficult moments, we see firsthand the healing power of gratitude.

This time of year is the perfect opportunity to reflect on what we’re thankful for, and for us, the families we serve immediately come to mind. We meet the most wonderful people every day who come from a range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds and faith traditions. As we help them preplan their arrangements and get funeral or memorial services and receptions in order, we’re reminded why families have been choosing Sunset View as a final resting place for generations.

People often tell us that being at Sunset View makes them feel at peace – and it’s no wonder, with our incomparable views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco Bay, and the downtown San Francisco skyline. We are so thankful to live in such a beautiful slice of California. Our historic cemetery is the final resting place for so many. People wander our grounds simply to appreciate nature. We feel fortunate that we are surrounded by such healing beauty every day.

We’re also grateful we can offer to hurting families a newly renovated facility that is just as stunning as the view outside. Every room was designed to offer comfort and make you feel welcome, and we see the impact the warm lighting and modern, home-like atmosphere can have during a difficult time.

We also count it a privilege to help families honor and remember their loved ones in a deeply personal way. For our team, helping families doesn’t feel like “work.” Serving our neighbors in El Cerrito, Kensington, Richmond, and beyond is our calling. We realize that losing a loved one can leave a person so stunned they don’t know what to do next. That’s why we’re here. We think of everything so you don’t have to. Having the opportunity to do so is a blessing.

This Thanksgiving, we want you to know how genuinely grateful we are for you and for each family who has come to us since our humble beginnings as a small country cemetery in 1908. There have been 110 Thanksgivings celebrations between then and now, and countless changes along the way. But through it all, one thing has remained the same: Our devotion to meeting the needs of each family who walks through our doors.

Well wishes to you and yours this Thanksgiving season!
