Willy Ide, a long-time resident of Berkeley, died Monday, March 23, 2015 at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley. A founding partner of Berkeley Bowl and owner of Marine Reef Fisheries and Sportsman Cannery and Smokehouse, Mr. Ide was an avid reader, especially of Buddhist literature. He graduated from UC Berkeley and went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Mathematics from USC. He was a PhD candidate in Statistics at UC Berkeley.
Survived by his loving wife, Ritsuko; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sumiko Louise and George Hirai, Miyeko Bess and George Tanaka and Yuriko Lillie and Minoru Ikeda; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service to be on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Berkeley Buddhist Church, 2121 Channing Way, Berkeley.
