I worked with Willie for 22 years at UCOP. He was a great mentor, patient teacher and wonderful colleague, always bringing good humor and kindness to the office. He shared his family and home, inviting us to your weddings and making pickles in your kitchen.

I worked with Willie while at UCLA and UC Irvine and could always count on his patience as I asked a (usually long) question. Better still, his advice was thoughtful and reasonable. I, along with many of my colleagues of the same era here in southern Califonia, valued his advice in many areas. My most sincere condolences to the family.
