Willie C. Archie was born in Bastrop, Louisiana. He was the third child of Alma Carpenter Archie & James Marion Archie.
As a young man Willie “W.C.” Archie was a national honor roll student, soared academically in math and science, played tennis, the coronet and sang. Writing poetry, playing chess, making pottery and ceramics, bowling and golf were his lifetime pastime passions. In 1964, Willie earned his BA from San Francisco State University and MBA from Golden Gate University in 1970.
W.C. served in the US Army with honorable discharge and was a celebrated and honored employee of The University of California, Systemwide for 40 years and a member of The Faculty Club for 38 years. Church and family involvement were paramount in his life as he was a dedicated and third generation member of The Beth Eden Baptist Church, serving as a member of The Board of Trustees for over 40 years and as a Deacon since1997.
W.C. is survived by the love of his life and wife Angela Maria Alexander-Archie, his son Raymond Calvin Archie (Melissa Archie), daughter Renata Maria Archie, grandson Ibrahima Guisse, brother James Archie (Angelina Overall-Archie), three aunts, 15 godchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
