William Michael Joyce passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2015. “Bill” to many and “Mike” to his family, he was born on June 6, 1936 in New York City. He was the second oldest of ten children born to Beatrice Hyland and Edward Parnell Joyce. Bill grew up in both upstate and Long Island, New York.
While serving in the Air Force, Bill met and married his wife, Natalia Ozuna Joyce, in San Antonio, Texas. Bill and Natalia relocated to California where Bill had been during his travels and had fallen in love with the San Francisco bay area. They raised four children in the east bay while Bill attended UC Berkeley and Golden Gate Law School. Bill spent over 30 years working for the Internal Revenue Service in the bay area and as an audit Chief in Los Angeles. Bill and Natalia enjoyed traveling after retiring to Brentwood to be close to family, touring 74 countries on board 43 different cruises.
William Michael Joyce is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Natalia, his four children, Cynthia Blume (Don), Michael P. Joyce, Natalie Joyce-Maeda (Owen) and Brenda Navellier (Guy). He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Elena Domingo, Logan Navellier, Gabriel Domingo, Colleen Navellier and Sierra Maeda, eight brothers and sisters, and many, many nieces and nephews.
Services for William will be held at St. Ignatius Church, Antioch, CA on Friday, December 4 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Salvation Army (www.salvationarmy.org).
