William George Behrman, 76, of Oakland CA died on March 5th 2018 after a long battle with dementia. “Bill Sr” Behrman is survived by his daughter, Laurie Behrman, his son, Bill Behrman Jr, and his sister, Janice Cadwell. Bill Sr was born and raised in New York City, and spent his career as a aeronautical industry technical salesperson. Prior to becoming a salesman, Bill Sr was a member of the US Naval Reserves. In retirement in Flanders NY, he achieved his lifelong dream of living directly on the water with multiple boats moored in his back yard. Later in life, he moved to Berkeley CA and established himself as the unofficial “Mayor of the French Hotel Cafe” where he met numerous infamous Berkeley personalities (such as Buffalo Jim). Bill Sr’s friends enjoyed his dry humor, love of dogs and the occasional vodka ginger ale at local watering holes. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of Bill Sr’s life will be held on Saturday, April 7th at 1 PM (Berkeley Yacht Club, 1 Seawall Drive, Berkeley CA).
