Tim was a kind and gracious soul, with wonderful manners and an amazing talent for cooking. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
May he rest peacefully, with his beloved Walter, Lucy, and Hugo by his side. 🤍
Rest in peace, Uncle Tim. I'll always remember your warm smile, your incredible cooking, and the way you made everyone feel at home. Some of my favourite memories were simply sharing a meal and enjoying your company in SF and in Oakland. I'll miss your food, your laughter, and the kindness you showed to everyone around you. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. You'll always have a special place in my heart.
Seeing Tim and speaking with him was one of the higlights of my day. His wit and humor made a the drugery of insurance defense better. The world is less with the loss of Tim. I am honored to have known him.
So sad to hear of Tim's passing. As a former classmate at Harlingen High School, I always enjoyed our friendship and occasional differences of opinion. His infectious smile, laughter and quick wit was always present among us at HHS. Tim was highly respected and admired by all of us that knew him. He will be missed greatly. Rest in Peace Tim.

My husband, Jake and I won the ultimate neighbor lottery when we moved to Montclair four years ago and met Tim, Pei-Ying, and Maxx. From our very first interaction, we knew they were the most special, kind people and neighbors. Over time, we became fast friends, always looking forward to over-the-fence conversations about gardening, the neighborhood, and our pets.
We felt an immense appreciation for Tim's kindness, extraordinary humor, and vast knowledge about every topic under the sun. We loved spending time in each other's homes, sharing food and wine, and listening to Tim and Pei-Ying’s love story and their adventures from SF to Texas to Oakland.
It is with the deepest heartbreak and sympathy that we mourn Tim's passing. We are eternally grateful to have crossed paths with Tim and shared these years with him, and our only wish is that we had countless more. We will think of him lovingly whenever we see a hydrangea, a standard poodle, or a woodworking bench.
Sending boundless love to Pei-Ying and Maxx and your families.
The photo on the obituary was taken last October when we traveled to Alishan in Taiwan together with Tim and Peiying. Tim looked so healthy then. Whether we were walking along the forest trails or the tea plantation paths on the hillsides, he was always striding ahead with such energy, leaving me breathlessly trying to catch up behind him and secretly admiring his stamina.
It is incredibly difficult to accept that Tim is gone. Ever since hearing the heartbreaking news, memories of the four of us traveling together have been replaying in my mind, one scene after another. Whenever Tim and Peiying came back to Taiwan, the four of us would often travel together, exploring places all across the island—from north to south and from east to west. Looking back, I realized that Tim had visited every city and county in Taiwan. I also treasure the wonderful memories of the times we visited the United States, when Tim took us to wineries, the Russian River, and the Grand Canyon. Traveling with Tim was always such a joyful and unforgettable experience.
Tim was truly one of the nicest people I have ever known. Whether we visited him in West Portal, Burlingame, or Oakland, delicious aromas were always coming from his kitchen. I still remember that before we set off for Vancouver, he baked an incredibly delicious banana cake for us to take on the road.
On several occasions, I also asked Tim for help with English documents at work and with emails to overseas customers. He always took the time to explain everything to me with great patience, and his guidance was an enormous help to me in my work.
Tim, my beloved brother-in-law, thank you for all the wonderful memories, your kindness, and your generosity. We will miss you deeply and remember you always. May you rest in peace.
Will be thinking of Tim at every concert I attend.

I feel so lucky to have had Tim as my brother-in-law.
From Taiwan to San Francisco, distance was never a barrier, and neither was language. Whenever we were together, he had a special way of making each of us feel cared for, loved, and at home.
Despite living in San Francisco, he never stopped caring about Taiwan. He cared deeply about Taiwan's future, followed its politics closely, and studied its history with great passion—often even more than many of us living in Taiwan.
He will always be remembered for his generous heart, his selfless spirit, his wonderful sense of humor, his incredible woodworking skills, and the love and care he gave to everyone in the family.
Tim will always be part of our family, and I will always treasure the memories we shared.
Tim,
I still remember when Phillip was just a child, and we family visited you and Pei Ying in San Francisco. You both took us out for an Italian dinner—it was my first time experiencing such authentic Italian cuisine. Even though Phillip fell asleep that evening due to jet lag, Judith and I still cherish that wonderful memory and the warmth you and Pei Ying shared with us.
Ten years ago, when Phillip was in college, he went to Wisconsin for a summer Work and Travel program. You specifically flew out to Chicago with him, then drove him all the way to his job location in Wisconsin just to check in on him. You didn't leave for Austin until you made sure everything was completely taken care of. You have always been such a thoughtful, kind, and deeply caring soul.
When Phillip went to the U.S. for his studies and career, the love and care you and Pei Ying showered upon him went far beyond what we, as his parents, could ever have asked for.
Your passing brings us profound sadness and leaves a deep ache in our hearts. We will forever cherish your memory and miss everything about you.
Kevin & Judith
I’m still in shock over your passing. Our last gathering in Taiwan feels like it was just yesterday. Your wit, your firm handshake, and your gentlemanly manner will always be treasured in my memory.
May you rest in peace. You will forever remain in my thoughts and prayers.

It was a profound shock to receive this news so suddenly. You were always so polite, kind, and generous—a big brother-in-law who loved sharing his homemade cooking and taking care of everyone around him. We still had so many conversations left unfinished about politics, coffee, and handcrafts. Perhaps in heaven, they serve truly great coffee, where you can enjoy your favorite food freely, without any pain or sickness. Rest in peace, Tim.
My memories of Uncle Tim feel like chapters in a book.
Because we lived so far apart, sometimes I would see Tim after a year or two, and sometimes it would be three or four years before we met again. As I grew from a child into an adult, my understanding of him kept changing with each visit. The one thing that never changed was knowing how happy my beloved aunt was by his side. And I have always treasured every moment I spent with Tim.
To me, Tim was always gentle, humble, and quietly kind. When my aunt showed me photos of him from his college days—the rebellious young man with so much energy and spirit—it reminded me that you, too, once carried that youthful confidence and vitality.
Through countless coincidences and twists of fate, we became family across half the world. The California sunshine, the warmth of your kitchen, and your smile will always be a part of me and will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Rest in peace, Uncle Tim.
The time I shared with you was truly beautiful, and I will carry those memories with me forever.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Uncle Tim is not just a close relative to me, he is a great and an inspiring friend to me. I remembered moments where we were just having casual chats, he can easily share his knowledge in both insightful and humorous ways. I looked up to him like the adult I hope to become somedays growing up, a person who is smart, kind, and passionate about living. Like his many friends and family members, I too wish I still have more time to spend with him. While the sad news is indeed devastating and tragic, I enjoyed every moment with him. I will always carry our memories in a special place deep within my heart. Sincerely, R.I.P, thank you for being my uncle!
My deepest condolence to uncle Tim, I will always remember the kindness, the warm, and all the funny moments we shared together over the years. RIP

Tim was like a brother to me. He had a great sense of humor and was one of the nicest persons I’ve known. I will miss him dearly. Our memories of him will live in our hearts forever.
Tim was not only my cousin-in-law for 27 years, but also one of the kindest and most gracious gentlemen I have ever known.
Because Tim often accompanied Peiying back to Taiwan, and later because my son, Justin, attended law school at UC Davis, I had many opportunities to spend time with them. Whenever we visited the U.S., Tim warmly welcomed us into their home. He always greeted us with a smile and took such joy in preparing delicious meals for everyone. I can still picture him happily cooking in the kitchen, and proudly showing us his woodworking projects in the basement with the enthusiasm and sparkle that were so uniquely his.
The last time I saw Tim was in October of last year. He looked healthy and full of life. It is still so hard to believe that illness came so suddenly and took him from us far too soon.
Even during his illness, Tim remained incredibly thoughtful. The graduation gift he chose for Justin was so meaningful and perfectly suited to him—it reflected the care, wisdom, and generosity that defined who Tim was.
Peiying once said, "I know it will never get better; I will simply learn to live with it." Those words broke my heart.
Tim, you will always be remembered with love and gratitude. Thank you for your kindness, your warmth, and the beautiful memories you gave us. Please continue to watch over and protect Peiying from above.
Rest in peace. You will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
