Suzanne Elizabeth Mlodzik
Berkeley, California
In loving memory of Suzanne Mlodzik, who peacefully passed away on January 10, 2021 at age 83.
She was preceded in death by parents Ruth and Edward Dunn, sister Nancy DesHarnais, and eldest son John.
She is survived by son David (daughter-in-law Lynnette), granddaughters Katherine and Alexis of Berkeley, CA, and brother Lawrence Dunn and his children Tim and Kathy, of Texas. She is also survived by sister Nancy’s children John (in MN), Tom, Laura and Jeannie (in MI). She is also survived by close cousins Mary Ann Fuizzotti of Ohio, Jerry Myers of Florida, and childhood friend Suzanne Willis of Florida.
Suzanne was a devout Catholic. Known for her sense of humor, she had a strong artistic bent which included singing and playing the piano. She loved to draw and write stories, especially for her grandchildren. She was always an avid reader and lifelong learner, and even while working took courses in a variety of fields and interests at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and other local colleges.
Born near Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Suzanne moved to Detroit, MI as a young child and then to Lincoln Park a few years later. She went to elementary school at St. Henry’s, half a block away in Lincoln Park. Most winter nights she could be found ice skating on the Ecorse Creek, across the street from her house. Later she attended St. Francis Xavier High School in Ecorse, where she developed friendships that lasted well into retirement age. Suzanne worked in a doctor’s office after high school, where she developed an interest in medicine and science. After marriage, she and her young family moved to Southgate, where they became members of St. Pius parish. While her boys attended St. Pius School, she taught catechism classes and was a Cub Scout Den Leader. With her sons away, she relocated to her family home in Lincoln Park. She moved to California in 2015 to be close to her son David and his family.
