Steven Thu Huynh touched the lives of all those around him, inspiring his loved ones with his kindness, ingenuity, and gentle strength. He was fond of the great outdoors and was a frequent patron of the arts, and never forgot his roots in Vietnam, dedicating himself to giving back to the Vietnamese American community in the United States. Steven — a beloved father, husband, son, and friend — sadly departed from his family and friends on February 4th, 2026 and will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Steven Huynh kindly asks that you redirect your support to these organizations in honor of Steven’s memory.

My fondest childhood memories were of Steven spending endless hours with me swimming at the Vung Tau beaches, collecting exotic shells, eating street food, and lighting fire crackers during Tet. During our family’s immigration to the US, in the Philippines, we enjoyed time together in the NASA Rocket club and listening to ABBA music. Steven was an amazing big brother. Even though he was super busy at UC Berkeley, he reviewed my college essays from afar and helped me identify what majors might match with me most. He loved the outdoors and our family enjoyed going together to Yosemite. When at home, we nerded out on Star Trek movies together. After our father passed away, he stepped up and took care of our mom and younger siblings. My daughters, wife, and I all look up to him for his kindness, generosity, loving nature, inventiveness, brilliance, and zest for life. Steven, rest in peace. We love you and will keep you in our hearts forever.

Active-Semi was my first job in the semiconductor industry. As the founder, Steven showed me what real engineering spirit looks like. Active-Semi was like a training ground for so many of us it shaped our careers and our way of thinking. He truly brought the Silicon Valley mindset to Asia and made it real. I was lucky to spend the best ten years of my youth there, learning and growing. I know many of my fellow Active-Semi brothers feel the same way. Without Steven, none of us would be where we are today. I’m writing this with a heavy heart to honor and thank a true hero in our industry. May you rest in peace. God be with you.

Chị thật sự bàng hoàng khi nhận được tin em đã ra đi vĩnh viễn sau hai ngày chị đã hy vọng rất nhiều rằng em sẽ hồi phục. Nhìn lại 30 năm vừa qua, chị em mình đã có rất nhiều kỷ niệm với nhau: từ thời em còn là sinh viên UC Berkeley em đã đều đặn chở chị Thoa ghé sang nhà chị để chở Khanh đi học tiếng Việt, rồi lần em dẫn Vân Ánh đến gặp chị lần đầu ở Hà Nội, rồi sau đó chị em lại gặp nhau khi em mở công ty ở Hà Nội, và rồi những lần gặp nhau ở Cali, nhất là lần chị và chị Lý đến ở nhà em và Vân Ánh một tuần và lần gần nhất là dip Giáng Sinh 2025 vừa rồi ở nhà Linh, hình ảnh em luôn để lại trong tim chị đó là một chàng trai luôn ân cần chu đáo chăm sóc các bà chị dù bề ngoài em luôn là người ít nói và không phô trương. Em đã cho chị thấy em là người chồng rất yêu vợ, luôn đứng đằng sau và hỗ trợ với tất cả tâm huyết để Vân Ánh có thể thực hiện những mơ ước của mình trong sáng tác và biểu diễn, em đã là một người cha thương con hết mực và luôn tạo điều kiện để các con được phát triển tốt nhất. Chị cũng đã được nghe từ những người đã từng làm việc với em với tất cả những ấn tượng rất tốt khi cùng làm việc với em. Điều mà chị không hiểu được là tại sao với một người dễ thương dễ mến và tốt bụng như thế em lại sớm rời bỏ cõi trần này và để lại biết bao thương nhớ của mọi người. Chị tin rằng em vẫn còn ở đâu đó để phù hộ cho Vân Ánh và các con và em luôn nhớ rằng bọn chị đã rất yêu quý em đến dường nào. Hãy yên nghỉ em nhé. Yêu em rất nhiều.

Anh là người đã dìu dắt em đến với ngành Analog IC Design — con đường mà em được thỏa sức phát triển và trưởng thành. Trong những tháng đầu, khi chúng em còn non nớt và bỡ ngỡ, anh đã kiên nhẫn dạy dỗ bằng tất cả sự tận tâm. Sau này, dù mỗi người một hướng, anh vẫn luôn theo dõi, động viên và tiếp sức cho chúng em. Chúng em luôn xem anh là tấm gương để noi theo trong từng bước đi của mình. Kính chúc anh yên nghỉ an lành. Mong mọi điều tốt đẹp nhất sẽ đến với những người anh yêu thương!

Nhớ anh, Cách anh tạm biệt chúng em bất ngờ như cái cách mà con chip DC40 lần đầu bật nguồn anh nhỉ. Hơn 20 năm trước, anh giao cho em làm LDO với kỳ vọng đó là chip sẽ được tape out và ra thị trường sớm nhất, nhưng cuối cùng DC40 lại là chip được làm đi làm lại nhiều nhất. Nghĩ lại thấy thương và tiếc nuối quá, phải không anh? Nhưng anh có biết, cũng vì thế mà em lại lãi thêm được mấy lần đi "FIB" với anh, được ngồi ké xe taxi, lướt qua những nhịp cầu của Thượng Hải lúc nửa đêm. Và em đã luôn tin rằng anh vẫn còn nhớ lần anh từ Mỹ gọi cho em lúc 3h sáng, chỉ để hỏi xem em 'fix" được lỗi chưa, Anh sẽ không bao giờ biết được cuộc gọi đó là nguồn động viên em đến thế nào đâu, anh ạ. Với cá nhân em, DC40 là tận cùng của mạch tương tự, để sau đó em hiểu rằng liên tục đào tạo các lứa sinh viên, tin tưởng, giao việc cho các bạn là cách "bù pha" tốt nhất để giữ bền vững (stable) vi mạch Việt Nam. Ở trên kia, em chúc Anh lại bắt đầu một hành trình mới đầy hứng khởi, anh nhé! Em Yên.

Steven was one of the smartest guys I knew at Maxim/batman, but he was very humble and willing to help people. He will be missed and forever remembered.
