Stephanie Michael Onufrieff age 40 of Berkeley passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 in Castro Valley. Steph’s kind and gentle soul touched everyone she met. She respected all, judged none, and loved with all her heart. Her family and friends will dearly miss her but take comfort in the end of her suffering. Her beautiful spirit is free. She is survived by her Mother, Nina Onufrieff of Berkeley and her sister, Melanie Onufrieff of Chattanooga, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Russian Orthodox Church, 1900 Essex St, Berkeley, CA. Officiating will be Father Edward Henderson with assistance by Cantor, James Cavendish. Interment will follow at Sunset View Cemetery, 101 Colusa Ave., El Cerrito, CA.

I just called Stephanie's number, the same one I had called her on so many times decades earlier, and it was disconnected. I googled her name and found she had passed. My heart is heavy today and I miss my friend. Today she would have been 41, and I wish I could see her smiling face. She was so generous and thoughtful, she always put her friends first, even as a 14 year old, she was an old soul. Dear Steph, I have so many memories of time and smiles shared with you. I pray you found peace, my friend. I pray your body released you from any hardships and please know you have been my friend in spirit for all these years.
