Sonja Bajuniemi passed away in her sleep early Tuesday morning.
Sonja was born in Teuva, Finland. She immigrated to California when she was 18. She grew a successful catering business that she retired from at 92.
Sonja is survived by her son Ronald and wife Karen Bajuniemi, grandchildren Andrew and wife Staci, and Matthew, and 2 great granddaughters, all of Walnut Creek. She is also survived by 3 sisters, Maija Muotio in Finland, Anneli Laine of San Leandro and Annikki Johansson in Sweden.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at noon at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1744 University Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94703. Her wishes of donations were to the Finnish Ministry of the Lutheran Church of the Cross.
