Rosalia Aspa Bautista better known to most as Mama Rose was born on August 12,1923 in Palauig, Zambales Philippines. She was the 5th and remaining daughter of Emilio Aspa and Januaria Fidelis Aspa. She had 6 sisters and 1 brother and they are now complete with her in heaven.

She married Bernardo Bautista in 1946 and had 12 children, including 1 who passed as a baby. She moved to California in 1977 where she went to school to study child care and worked various jobs from child care to postal work.

Through hard work and dedication she was able to send for her remaining children in the Philippines to California. Her children begged her to retire in 1990 while her husband was battling cancer. In 1993 she battled her own cancer and survived it.

She passed away peacefully on August 3, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. Mama Rose is survived by 11 children, 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families who loved her so much. Too many to mention.

She will be remembered as loving, caring and the best mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt to all. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday and Friday, August 10 and 11th from 3:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. at Sunset View Mortuary, 101 Colusa Ave., El Cerrito. A vigil service will be on Friday, August 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset View Mortuary. Mass Of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church, 11150 San Pablo Ave, in El Cerrito followed by the interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 2540 Church Ln, San Pablo. A reception will be held following the interment at Empire Buffet in San Pablo, CA
