Robert Willis “Bob” Sapp, 85, died Saturday, August 21, at Rose Place in Stockton, after two months in hospice care. He was born in Washington, D.C. on September 3, 1935 to Paul and Dorothy Sapp.
Bob was an athlete, caddie, actor, and a multi-talented teacher and coach. As a child, he lived in many states assigned to his father, a government civil servant. He served in the army and finally made Stockton his home after graduating from UOP in Physical Education. He coached and taught at Lincoln High School in Stockton until retirement, after which he once again traversed the states as a caddy on a professional golf tour.
After retirement, a new stage then opened for him – acting. The Stockton Civic Theater absorbed his efforts, with such plays as “Showboat”, “Stop the World”, and “I Do! I Do!”. His home was always open to his many friends from the theater, as well as UOP football players and coaches, some of whom had made it to the pros.
Bob is survived by his brother George, sister Marjorie Elliott, both of El Sobrante, nieces Diane Hoy and Meredith Elliott, and five nephews, Steven, John and Martin Sapp, Douglas and Richard Elliott.
