Robert Sheldon Jones

Robert Sheldon Jones, M.D., a kind and gentle soul, passed away at home on October 7, 2022. He was born on February 6, 1943 to Delbert and Maybelle Jones.

In 1969 he earned his medical degree from the Ohio State School of Medicine and practiced for several years in the Bay Area. In 1988 he completed the psychiatry residencey program at Napa State Hospital and subsequently was board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology. He was an avid reader and loved to be in his garden.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Donna. His son Scott (Kelly), daughter Lori (Jason) and two stepsons Chris and Jason (Cynthia). His grandchildren Madison, Jake, Jackson, James and Haley. He is also survived by his brother Del (Kathy), sister Charlotte (Ray), brother-in-law Nick (Carol), as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held in his honor.

I am Dr. Robert Sheldon Jonas’s 1st cousin. We grew up together in Port Clinton, Ohio and both graduated with the Class of 1961. Robert was an amazing student & athlete winning the outstanding Student Athlete award for our class. I have watch from afar his amazing career. My sincere condolences to his wife & family.

Dr. Jones was a great man with a heart for the people he served. I worked with Dr. Jones for about 18 years, and he always was open to listening and offering advice on my mom and my children. I will miss talking to him and meeting with him every week to discuss the people we serve, I will miss discussing the latest news, I will miss the presence he had at Crestwood. May he rest in peace, and may he know the impact he had on so many lives that most of our communities have shunned. Thank you to his wife and family for sacrificing time with him so that he could work and bring hope into the lives of the mentally ill.
