Resident of El Sobrante
Roberto Alan Young passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 17, 2026. Roberto was born in Oakland, CA and was the only child of Howard Wayne Young and Pasqualina (Finali) Young. His parents lived in different homes in Alameda, Oakland, Hayward, and eventually Fremont where his parents settled in their “forever home”. He grew-up in a very loving household where his mom loved to host parties and gatherings to bring people together, cousins, aunts, uncles and countless friends. His mother was a native of Roma (Santa Yono to be exact) and instilled in Roberto his deep love and appreciation of his Italian heritage. Many summers as a young child, teenager, and young adult were spent traveling to Roma to spend time with family and helping him to speak Italian fluently. He gained a talent for cooking from his mom and was an amazing home chef. From his father, he developed an amazingly strong work ethic, a love of cinema, and a passion for gardening and landscaping. Roberto also gained a passion for muscle cars from his dad, especially Ford Mustangs. His love of Fords eventually transcended to a 1994 Ford Bronco that he was currently restoring. Aside from cars, Roberto was also a talented artist and spent many happy hours in his studio painting and creating objects for his loved ones.
After graduating from American High School in Fremont, Roberto jumped into the trade industry and ultimately became a Union Butcher. The majority of his professional career was working retail at the original Andronico’s market which had stores all around the Bay Area. It was while working at the Telegraph Store in Berkeley where he met his wife, Jenny BlackDeer. Once they met during the summer of 1991, they became inseparable and decided to spend their lives journey together. Roberto was a single father at the time to Ian and Hailee Young. In 1997, Jenny and Roberto welcomed their first child, Sophia Pasqualina and was followed by their son, Vincenzo Michael in 2001, and Nicolaus Floyd in 2009. Roberto kept busy working and being an amazing dad to all of his children.
Roberto liked to spend time painting, swimming at the local athletic club and watching his darling granddaughter Amora Pasqualina, who was the apple of his eye. Anytime Amora came around, all she could say was “Nono, Nono”.
Roberto is survived by his beloved wife, Jenny BlackDeer, daughters, Sophia BlackDeer-Young (Joseph) of El Sobrante, Hailee Young of Kuna, ID, sons, Nicolaus BlackDeer-Young of El Sobrante, Vincenzo BlackDeer-Young (Ciana) of El Sobrante, Ian Young (Sam) of Thornton, CO, Sister in law Darcia BlackDeer-Lent of Bishop, Brother in law David Lent of Bishop, Brother in law Dirk BlackDeer of Tonganoxie, KS, Sister in law Crystal BlackDeer of Tonganoxie, KS and grand children; Amora Carlson, Hunter Newby, Jaxon Newby, Isabella Newby, Kamille Newby, and Colette Young.
