Ralph Gregory Armson passed away on February 8, 2017 in Napa, California. Ralph graduated from Skyline High School in Oakland in 1967 with plans to attend UCLA on a full Crew athletic scholarship. His college education was interrupted by what became a lifelong debilitating illness. Ralph took after his father who was an accomplished saxophone player and singer. Ralph played saxophone with his older brother in their own bands in the Bay Area. Ralph was intelligent and generous, teaching his four year old sister to read when he was ten as a surprise for their parents and taking her to the Beatles concert at Candlestick in 1966 for her eleventh birthday. With his condition, Ralph had to live much of his life in various care facilities. His last year was spent at Napa State Hospital where he had outstanding caregivers. This care extended to his last days at Queen of the Valley Medical Center and finally in Hospice there. He is survived by his siblings Richard, Christine and Skipp and his nephew Samuel. His older brother Dudly predeceased him in 2015. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 2:30 p.m., at Sunset View Mortuary, El Cerrito, CA.
