Peter Richard Stewart was born 9 short years ago, June 15, 2006, in the morning.
When we recall Peter’s life, we will recall a boy who was so sweet and loving. For him we will also use words like courageous and tenacious. We have many wonderful memories that remind us of these enviable qualities.
A little shy by nature, Peter intensely loved and supported those who were nearest him. He loved school, to play board games and to be outside. These intimate times with family were Peter’s favorite–and are now among our favorite memories.
During this last year, when the Make a Wish Foundation asked Peter for what he wanted, he explained that what he most wanted was to be together with his extended family. This ask, more than anything else summed up what Peter was at his core, a loving, sweet and caring boy.
We will also remember his courageous fight against cancer. We and his doctors asked so much of him and he never complained or said no. Through many hours of surgery, radiation treatment and chemotherapy, Peter, our rock, showed us both his courage and tenacity.
Above all, we want you to know Peter brought our family supreme joy and will be remembered forever for his sense of humor, and shy unassuming warm smile. He gave us meaning.
At sunset, on October 26th, Peter passed at home while in the warm embrace of his family. In Peter’s loving memory, April, Pete, and Anna, will endeavor to illuminate the world in the way Peter would have wanted.
We have received strong support from our family and friends over this past, most difficult and sometimes joyful year. Thank you all for this and for keeping Peter always in your heart.
