Patrick Morgan Price died peacefully in his sleep on January 12th, in Folsom, California at the age of 51. Patrick is survived by his son Luka Price; his beloved mother, Norma Price; brother Kelly (Meredith) Price; niece and nephew Hannah and Nicholas Price; his aunts Eloise (Bob) Evans and Gloria Ryder, and numerous treasured cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Christy “Chris” Price.
Patrick was born in February 1972 in Sacramento, California to Chris and Norma Price. As a young person, he was an accomplished athlete enjoying competitive soccer & track, competing in triathlons, and snow skiing. He set a record at the USA Track & Field amateur nationals in middle school for the 200 meter hurdles. While at Acalanes High School he was a four-year letterman in both soccer and track. While in school, Patrick developed a love for working with his hands that he carried forward into his adult life. He especially enjoyed woodworking, restoring cars and working sound for the Acalanes drama department. He also enjoyed cooking and attended culinary school after high school where he developed a love of fine food and wine.
Above all, Patrick had a lifelong passion for music: all kinds of music that spanned multiple decades and genres. He attended concerts throughout his life, traveling to festivals and following bands to faraway destinations. His ear for music led him to acquire sound editing skills which he applied working for various artists and bands. He especially enjoyed being involved in the Sacramento musical community and was enthusiastic about promoting local bands.
Patrick enjoyed art and collectables of all kinds. Some of his favorite works were by Dr. Seuss and Peter Max. He was fond of skateboard designs by Powell-Peralta and Tony Hawk, often hanging well used and autographed boards on his walls. He was into cars, was fascinated by time pieces, and loved collecting “cool” Vans and other sneakers.
Throughout his life, Patrick enjoyed meeting new people and was always quick to strike up a conversation with someone he did not know. He liked to hear people’s stories about the obstacles they had overcome and took joy in helping others. He told remarkable stories, and he valued his friends. He had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling. His journeys took him to destinations that included Belgium, France, England, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Caribbean, and many states and cities within the US.
He loved his animals: his beloved lab, Skyler, his German shepherd, Polo, and his son’s chihuahua Spike. He also enjoyed the outdoors. Specifically, Lake Tahoe was a special place for Patrick where his extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, everyone’s children, and numerous friends would often come together. Additionally, his friend’s property in Trinity, CA also became a very significant place to Patrick where he would go to reconnect with nature. This was a place that gave him great solace in the final years of his life.
The family would like to sincerely thank the many friends, caregivers, hospital staff, and hospice caretakers for their loving and dedicated care of Patrick during his journey home.
