Myles J. Oberto passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Myles was predeceased by his parents Myles and Marian Oberto, and his sisters Doris Poli and Amelia “Dolly” Milani. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Yvonne, and by his daughters Denette (Jeff) Accornero, Dori (David) Olivero, Danielle (Lorren) Ray, and Deanne Giacomelli. He was adored by his grandchildren Melissa, Lindsey, Vincent, Matthew, Gianna, Delanna, and Carina. He leaves behind his loving sister Marian McDonald, along with many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. He will be dearly missed by his loyal English bulldog, Lola.

Myles was a native of Ironwood Michigan, but has resided in El Cerrito for the past 56 years. He was co-owner of Ransome Company in San Leandro, a member of the Colombo Club in Oakland, and a board member at Salesian High School in Richmond. Myles had an infectious sense of humor, and always had a way of making everyone he met feel special. His family and friends were the light of his life, and his generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Sunday July 17th from 3:00-5:30pm, with a rosary to follow, at St. Jerome Catholic Church located at 308 Carmel Ave. in El Cerrito. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Monday July 18th at 10:00am, and internment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery located at 2540 Church Ln. in San Pablo.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Myles’ name can be made to Children’s Hospital in Oakland, Salesian High School in Richmond, St. Mary’s College High School in Berkeley, or any charitable organization of your choice.
