Katherine (Kay) Hunt (Kruse) Smith passed away on October 23, 2018 in Richmond. Kay was predeceased by her former husbands, Lawrence (Tony) Anthony Kruse, Jr. and Col Frank H. Smith. She is survived by her children, Katherine Todd (Danny Perotti) of Chico and Connie Kruse of El Cerrito; three grandsons, Glenn Todd of Haysville, KS, Christopher Todd of Santa Cruz, and Sean Todd of Sunnyvale, and great-grandson, Anthony of Haysville, KS. Kay is also survived by her beloved poodle, Oliver.
A native of Berkeley, Kay was very proud to be a graduate of Mills College, Oakland, and graduated with a degree in art history. She was an accomplished tennis player with the Mills team. Kay was a Real Estate agent from 1970 until 2009 when she retired. During those years, Kay worked with many wonderful clients and agents. She also loved to read, knit, garden and raise her award winning Welsh Corgis.
The Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at Sunset View Mortuary, Colusa and Fairmount Aves., El Cerrito. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to East Bay SPCA, 8323 Baldwin St., Oakland, CA 94621, or Alameda County Food Bank, 7900 Edgewater Dr., Oakland, CA 94621.
