Elsie Crescenti, 89, of Hercules, CA passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020. Elsie was born to Teresa and Guido Schiavon in Oakland, CA.
After graduating Oakland Technical High School in 1948, she was married in 1951 and moved to North Beach where she had her first child. She worked as an executive secretary for Simmons Bedding Company for over 20 years.
With the birth of her second child in 1971, Elsie took a hiatus from work and focused her attention on her family and volunteering. Later, she returned to work as a vocational teacher to eventually retire at age 73.
Her family and friends were her life’s passion. She instilled in her family the importance of traditions, of honoring the past and celebrating the present, creating a legacy of Italian cooking, baking and love of “La Famiglia”.
Elsie was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 53 years, Anthony Crescenti and her brother, Melvin Schiavon. She is survived by her daughter, Toni Fischer and her husband Charles Fischer; her son, David Crescenti; her granddaughter, Ashley Stern and her husband Michael Stern, and her grandson, Brandon Fischer.
The funeral will be held on Friday, February 7th at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, 1145 Gilman St, Berkeley, CA 94706 with the viewing at 11:30 AM, service at 12:00 PM and burial immediately following at Sunset View Cemetery & Mortuary, 101 Colusa Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530.
