Melpo was a fearless mountaineress, a pioneer......always blazing a new trail by hiking or biking it......
In her youth, Melpo took up cycling and competed with her then bicycle shop owner husband Jeff Jerge.... Eventually, and under the mentorship of three time Tour de France champion Greg LeMond, they started competing professionally.
It was then that she suffered a horrific bicycle accident which ended her career and beloved sport. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, niece and friend.
Melpo will always be in our hearts and our thoughts always. We love her, we miss her, and we will never forget her!
