Marian Nakamura passed away peacefully at her home on April 21, 2013 at the age of 89. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Nakamura. She leaves behind her loving children Allen Nakamura of Alameda and Kathy (Bruce) Kawabata of San Ramon; grandchildren Stefani and Tyler Kawabata; sister Lily (Tadashi) Yoshii of El Cerrito, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marian was a resident of El Cerrito for 52 years. Formerly of Hanford, CA. She spent time at the Jerome, AR Japanese American internment camp during WWII. She was a Member of Christian Layman Church and the JACL. She enjoyed growing her orchids, roses, and vegetable garden. Marian also loved traveling all around the world. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Marian will be remembered for her feisty and independent spirit. She was a strong woman who lived and died on her own terms.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 11 at 10 AM at Sunset View Mortuary, at the Junction of Fairmount and Colusa Avenues in El Cerrito, CA. Burial will be Private.
