Margaret “Peggy” Christine Lowenstein

October 21, 1942 - December 15, 2021

Peggy loved caring for people and helping others and she studied to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She spent several years working in hospitals and later transitioned to home nursing, and she found it very rewarding to provide exceptional care for her patients.

She married LeRoy Lowenstein on February 24th, 1968, in Redwood City California. They settled in San Mateo California and raised 2 sons, Karl and Kevin. In her personal and professional lives, she put other people’s needs before her own, and developed deep bonds with people wherever she went.

Peggy had many interests including crocheting, and it was a joy for her to create and donate many beautiful scarves and blankets to Veterans, through her participation in the Federated Woman’s Club of San Carlos. She also had wonderful adventures as a member of the Red Hat Society and was a proud member of the Sassy Red Hatters of San Mateo.

She loved family and enjoyed spending time with them anytime she could. She would also make quick friends with neighbors, many of which she maintained close personal relationships with over the years.

Peggy was a beloved grandmother to her 5 grandchildren, Keilani, Bradley, Brian, Sydney and Sawyer. The grandkids cherished the time they spent with their grandma at get togethers and on special family vacations which she lovingly arranged to keep the family close.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 7th, 2021, at Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito California.

I's sorry for the late reply. I was thinking of the family. I remember visiting Peggys home. It was quite cozy and smelled good, like good cooking simmering al the time. I was childhood friends were her son Kevin and Karl. I'm sorry to hear of this great loss. There is no greater sorrow to break thew heart. may your spirits be lifted. I'm harrt broke to learn that peg passed away. I spoke to her in 2019 I think it was and she told me she was I'll and I better come and see her. I never made it. I'm sure she is with Leroy and my mom Carol bell and all the others we lost to soon. I'll share a story when I was young we moved from Millbrae CA to San Mateo into the Hillsdale garden apartments. We hadn't been there long and we had some family over. When that happened my dad and uncles and aunts could play guitars and sing classic country songs. That night they played a song called beautiful brown eyes at least ten times. The song goes beautiful beautiful brown eyes beautiful beautiful brown eyes beautiful beautiful brown eyes I'll never Love blue eyes again that's the opening, well the next morning I woke up to Peggy out front of her place singing beautiful beautiful bullshit. I loved her from that day forward. Karl and Kevin and I became great friends and I've tried to stay in touch over the years. In fact my grandson, Everett shares the same birthday as Karl 8/13 I thought that was really special. Karl and Kevin and all the lowenstein family, my deepest condolences !!!! Aunt Peggy was a truly sweet lady. I had the pleasure of knowing her thru my son Matthew and the earlier years being with Arnie. I hope she is flying high with Leroy and Arnold and Gramma Lowenstein. Peggy was a wonderful person and great lady. We did get a chance to talk in October, we had a good chat and her and my mom were able to talk too, so that is great to know they both got to say something to each other before they both left us. Hopefully they are both in heaven having fun together. Godspeed Peggy.
