Lynsay Maclnnis Smith

February 19, 1946 - July 8, 2024

Lynsay (MacInnis) Smith was reunited with her husband and daughter in Heaven on July 8
following an unexpected illness and a long life filled with love and family.

Lynsay was born in 1946 and spent her childhood in Richmond California, graduating from Harry
Ells High School. She relocated to Benicia with her husband, Roger, in 1987.

Lynsay will always be remembered as warm, welcoming, loving, sentimental and kind. She
delighted in small things and often had a glint in her eye and a smile on her face.

She appreciated the little things in life such as bringing in the mail and the smell of a rainy
day. She enjoyed her husband’s jokes; her son, Ryan’s music (and beard); and getting big
bear hugs from her son, Alex. She loved thrift stores, downtown Benicia and bologna
sandwiches with a dill pickle on the side.

The Smiths valued their time as a family and as community members. They enjoyed
volunteering at church, going square dancing and game nights.
Lynsay will be missed by sons Alex and Ryan Smith, brother-in-law Gary Lee Smith, sister-in laws
Carole and Deborah Smith, many nieces and nephews, her beloved dog Leonard and her grand-dog
Bubba, and many family friends. Lynsay was preceded in death by her daughter Emily and
husband, Roger.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist
Church, 1055 Southampton Road, Benicia. Interment will be private.

Alex & Ryan- I’m so sorry for your sudden of your mom. Lynsay always had a quirky funny sense of humor. Her stories of daily life were entertaining. We had quite a few Thanksgivings at your house- alway beautiful table settings and food. She always was second in command as your Dad had a special detailed vision of holidays. I loved your mom so much. We had such a nice visit and went out to lunch in Benicia in June. I love the tree planting in her memory.

I only got to interact with Lynsay a few times, but everytime I did I was met with a lady with a smile on her face, a cheerful demeanor, and kindness & humor radiaiting off of her through her words & her actions. So sorry to see you go Lynsay, and although I barely got to know you, I am glad I got to know you enough to see your loveliness. It was enough to tell me who were: a wonderful lady. I am so sorry to hear about Lyndsey passing away. I had been thinking about her a lot and was going to call her and chat like we did every so often. She was a joy to talk to and have some laughs with. My thoughts, prayers and hugs go out to Alex and Ryan for your loss.
