Our Biji, Kulwant Chahal passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Wed May 6th, 2020 at approximately age 94, based on family info rather than documented birthdate. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss her dearly and keep her memories close to their heart.
She leaves behind daughter Rajwant Kaur; sons Gurmit, Karnail and Jarnail; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother; sisters and many close family & friends.
She was born to a farming family in village Chananke in District Amritsar, Punjab, India. She was the eldest of 11 siblings, 4 brothers and 6 sisters. She got married at an early age in 1944-46 to our Grandfather Vir S. Chahal who passed away just 2 months ago on March 4, 2020. They were married for 75 years. They have been living in the US for 32 years after they immigrated in 1988 to join their youngest son Jarnail and his family.
Inspite of no formal education, she had exceptional skills and calm temperament in upbringing 4 children, educating them and making them good citizens in their communities. She was excellent caretaker at home & a pillar of strength to her husband. They both worked hard to create better opportunities for their kids and grandkids. It will be fitting to say that they were an excellent team and Biji always supported Bapuji. He was very lucky to have her by his side.
She lived most of her life supporting her husband and by joining him soon after he passed away is a final testament to her love for him and her family will cherish her memories forever.
