Kimiko Takata, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on November 2, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Shogi Takata. She is survived by three sons; Wayne and his wife Wendy, Bruce and Kent and grandson Tyler.
A native Californian, Mrs. Takata was born in Lincoln and spent the last 65 years in Berkeley.
She dedicated her adult life to making sure her family was taken care of. She passed up a college education so she could get a job and support herself and her mother. She put her family first once more and provided a loving home for her husband and sons. She re-entered the workforce and worked for the DMV for 20 years. Even in retirement, she helped care for her cherished grandson. She will be remembered for her volunteer work and her contributions to her community.
Mrs. Takata was always a kind and generous person. She had a talent for craftwork projects. She would spend hours creating knitting or crochet pieces that she would pass on to friends and family.
We will always appreciate her tireless efforts and sacrifices to make the lives of her family more enriched.
At her request no services will be held. In lieu of flowers you may donate to J-Sei Inc. 2126 Channing Way, Berkeley, CA 94704.
