Katie was born in Providence, Rhode Island and passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Albany on Jan 12, 2013.
She emigrated to California with her parents, Lucio and Lydia Miranda dos Santos of Portugal and Belem, Brazil respectively, first to Kingsburg, later moving to Berkeley and finally Albany, where she resided for 66 years.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Duff Small and her son Walter Allison Wallace. She and “Charlie” worked together at Armco Steel in Berkeley, he as an engineer and she eventually was promoted to engineering estimator. Katie was a wonderful cook and dancer and had a lifelong interest in gardening. She is survived by her son Ronald Santos Wallace, daughters-in-law Beverly, Suzanne and Mary, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held in early February.
