Kathryn K. Andrews (Kathy) passed away on April 19, 2026 in Richmond, California after a brief illness.

Kathy was born in Burbank, California and raised in North Hollywood where she attended Campbell Hall School and Argyll Academy.  She went on to Occidental College where she made many close friends with whom she regularly communicated and enjoyed reunions together at the College. After college, she went to law school at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly Hastings College of Law). While in law school, Kathy met her future husband Jeff Vincent. Having spent time living in South Carolina and Japan while Jeff was in the Navy, Kathy and Jeff settled in El Cerrito, California where they raised there family.

During her legal career, Kathy was dedicated to to the defense of indigent persons in criminal cases in trial courts and appellate courts, including arguing on behalf of her client in the Supreme Court of California.  Kathy was a strong opponent of the death penalty and she also mentored and encouraged younger attorneys while working at the California Appellate Project.

Kathy will be remembered for her spirit of generosity in support the cause of justice for less fortunate members of society.  She helped organize and contributed to the annual San Francisco fundraising event for the Southern Center for Human Rights – https://www.schr.org – of Atlanta, Georgia. Recently, Kathy had become involved in making regular contributions of food and funding to the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry at St. Jerome Church in El Cerrito.

After Kathy’s sister-in-law was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Kathy dove into researching the illness to assist her husband Jeff in providing appropriate care for Jeff’s sister. Eventually, Kathy became a moderator on an FTD forum and provided help and advice to family members of FTD sufferers throughout the world.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jeff Vincent, her son Charles Andrews Vincent, daughter Melissa Ann Vincent, and sisters: Kathleen (Katie) Andrews, Kristy Andrews and Kim Andrews. She was preceded in death by her father Fred Andrews and mother Karen Andrews O’Connor.
