Joyce Dineen Anderson

June 2, 1930 - December 12, 2022

Joyce was born in Enfield, Connecticut to Raymond and Bertha Dineen.

She graduated in 1953 from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. In 1954, Joyce moved to Berkeley, California where she began working at a Naval Lab in Oakland and then at the Steinhaus Lab at UC Berkeley. Joyce was married for 61 years to her husband John (Jake) Anderson. They lived in Albany, California and raised three children.

She leaves behind Jake, Eric (Janet) Anderson, Brett (Gary) Demos, Shea Anderson, grandchildren Max, Hannah, Lauren, and Sophie and her brother Jack Dineen.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

I’m so very sorry to hear of Joyce’s passing. She was one very special lady. We worked together at Brookside Hospital for many years. I arranged quite a few reunion luncheons where many of us got together to remember good times. My heart is sad as I wasn’t able to connect with her the last few years. Use to run into she & Jake on New Years Day at the Pegasus Calendar store on Solano Ave. . I had a nickname for her too. I called her Winnie. Hope she didn’t mind . Love her and will miss my friend. My deepest Sympathy to Jake and the whole family.❤️❤️
