Alyne Hazard left a message on November 5, 2015:
We were sad to learn of Mr. Takeuchi's passing. Our families were neighbors and friends on Chestnut Street in Berkelely. I remember your parents: their sweet smiles and gentle laughter. Always so calm and composed, quite a team. Your family kindly hosted Malyne and I to dinners while my father taught classes at San Jose State University during the day, and my mother and two others sisters traveled in Japan for several weeks in the 60s. We fondly remember attending the Berkelely Free Methodist Church with you, during our early years. A beautiful family, and we are grateful to have had the opportunity know you. John, Mark and April, our heartfelt condolences on your loss. Our parents no doubt have met again. Please take good care. And, it is wonderful to see how the family has grown. Alyne Hazard (for Dianne, Malyne and Fumiko as well)
