Born in Ada, Oklahoma, to May Bell and Luther Davis O’Neal, His family moved to Texas when Glen was 14 where he played high school football. In 1942 his family relocated to California where he worked in the Delano grape vineyards briefly before settling in Richmond. Glen enlisted in the Navy in 1944. He served as a Signalman on an LST 825 during WWII, After completing his service, he worked as a Burner in the Shipyards. Glen joined Standard Oil (Chevron) in January 1949. He worked in the Labor Gang, became a Rigger apprentice, then a Journeyman. He served as a Union Steward of the Oil Workers Union (OCAWIU) in his early career. In later years he served as a Rigger Foreman and Supervisor in the Tool Room. Retired from Chevron in 1986. Member of SIRS and Chevron Retirees’ Assn. Glen moved his family to Pinole in 1959. Served 10 yr on Pinole Personnel Board. A talented, self—taught woodworker, his projects included building a family room, a gazebo, his woodshop, and making clocks and fountain pens from exotic woods. Glen also enjoyed music, photography, and travel. A true gentleman, Glen was a devoted husband of 68 years and caregiver to his wife, Lavonne, who survives him, until his own health issues reversed their roles. Caldwell and Jodie DiMaggio; great—granddaughter, Courtney Caldwell; great—grandson, Skyler Caldwell; and great—great granddaughter, Aubree Sinclair. Survived by sister, Wanda (O ‘Neal) Evans and brothers, Bill (Kathie) and Harvey O? Neal and loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Annabelle (O’Neal, Lee) Shelly. Glen will be missed by all who knew him, Thanks to the staff of Greenridge Senior Care and Kindred Hospice for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, Kindred Hospice, or favorite charity. Viewing will be from 2—8 p.m. Thurs. Oct, 26 at Sunset View Cemetery, 101 Colusa Ave, El Cerrito CA. Services are Fri. Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. at Sunset View with burial following.
