Dad was born in El Cerrito, CA to John & Margaret DeMaria. He grew up in Albany, CA with his siblings Lorraine and Kenneth. In high school dad was the star baseball pitcher for Albany High and was being scouted by the big leagues. Unfortunately, his arm burned out and that particular dream was no more. He graduated in 1943.
During World War II, dad enlisted for two years in the US Navy. After his military duty was complete he returned home to kick off his career as a County Clerk for the Superior Court of Alameda County. In addition, he attended UC Berkeley night school to attain a certificate in Public Administration. His career lasted 53 years while holding many positions working his way up and retiring as Assistant Court Executive in 2000.
Along the way in the 1950’s and while holding down a job at the courthouse he became a member of City & County Credit Union, now known as 1st United. He volunteered on the credit committee and served as a Board Member until a few years ago, retiring as an honorary member.
If you know anything about our dad, HE LOVED SPORTS and played golf, tennis, baseball & Bocce ball, summers camping and rafting on the American River. If he couldn’t play it, he watched it on TV.
After retirement dad and Bev became international travelers with many of their friends; Europe, China, Panama, Hawaii and other destinations.
Club Affiliations: President of Junior Chamber of Commerce, Albany, CA -Fratellanza Italian Club of Emeryville & attended with friends the Colombo Italian Club of Oakland.
Dad married three time: Beverly Graves, Beverly Jean Anderson & Margie Drew. Children: Ronald, Dana, Bradley & Michael. Grandchildren: Skye, Orion, Drew & Dylan. Great Grandchildren: Ava, Sofia & Stryker
