It's been almost a year since your departure. George Moore was my science teacher at Tennyson High School back in 2007 and 2008. One of my favorites!!! Such an amazing soul, he made science fun. He would have creative ways to explain teachings and would go over topics in different ways to make sure his students understood. He was always very funny, yoy are dearly missed. May you rest and peace and condolences to your family amd friends.

George, I remember you and Leslie ( Blaise) from Cloyne Court, years ago when we were all 3 college students. I valued you guys' friendship a lot, but my life changed completely and we fell out of touch. it was my fault. I still think often of something George told me once.. to always let old people in line behind you cut in front of you.. because they have less time. I always thought we would meet again, George and Leslie.. A couple of weeks ago I was shopping at the Antique Center on Telegraph Avenue and found 'Blaise Lang' written in the frontispiece of a book. Browsing further, I bought a typewriter, and found George's name on the tag hanging from it. I have since learned that George has died.. I am so sorry, George and Leslie ( Blaise ) that I fell out of touch. I miss you guys, looking back through the years from where I stand today. Leslie, if you read this, I would like to catch up with you.. Please call me at 510/990-7363. George, your lived your values and never sold out. I will always honor that in my heart. Sincerely, Wendy Monroe

I have many fond memories of George, from hard karate practice at the YMCA or Finn Hall, to the conversations over beer and pizza afterwards at Jupiter. He was a good friend, and he is missed. My condolences to his family.

George was someone I got to know over the years through karate practice. He took particular interest in passing on what he knew to newer students. While we practiced, he would talk to us about the specific techniques in detailed ways and reference the history of karate. His seriousness was always balanced out with a sense of joy and enthusiasm which was motivating to everyone. He may have showed up late but he would also want to stay late and work with a few people after class and these are the times I will now have to hold on to, knowing that there will be no more. He taught me how to be serious and direct but also to be playful. He would put us in positions of thinking about scenarios where we would have to defend ourselves or diffuse a situation, always with a smile and with an ability to connect with each person. That ability to approach life both with discipline, play and joy is truly a rare combination which you can find in other people but rarely in someone with such a big heart and personality. I will miss his curiosity and his ability to always surprise you with a new way of seeing or a new idea that would change how you see the world. It didn’t surprise me to learn he was a teacher and he has taught me much more than karate. I am sure that was also true of his students. My thoughts go out to his family, who though I haven’t met, I feel a connection through in grief but also in having been lucky enough to share the gift of knowing George.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

With profound sadness... Had the privilege of practicing karate with George for many years. George was one of a kind. Smart, talented, passionate, opinionated, food-lover, and a great storyteller. George left a positive imprint on everyone who had the opportunity to know him. Thank you, George!

I knew George through karate practice. He was always enthusiastic and always asked questions, almost to the point of pestering, but that was just his enthusiasm which never waned. He was a genuine person, truly optimistic and warm and never showed the slightest bit of nastiness even when he was being his strongest. His passing makes me sad, it makes me wonder if I still have the chance to be as good of a person as he was. I will miss him very much.

I live far from the Bay Area and didn't have many chances to practice karate with George. One of my fond memories with him is he played the role of the attacker for me when we were all practicing self-defense for women. He was a great attacker. And of course, after the practice, he returned to his normal nice guy. Thank you, George. Rest in Peace...

I had the pleasure of training with George in Karate, and we faced off several times in free-sparring matches at tournaments. He was strong and remarkably fast, and I remember his attacks felt like I was being run over by a truck. However, he always showed a clean strong mentality and we always shared a hug and smile, win or lose. George will be missed.

It is with utmost sadness that I learned of George’s passing just today (9/13/2020). I taught George his first karate lesson, and was still leading practice for him and others up until his last days. His desire to learn this martial art, which wasn’t easy for him, was unfathomable. His inquisitive mind and tenacious persistence to learn was always up front, and he always gave his best effort in class and at Special Trainings. His efforts led him to achieve 2nd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate of America. But his greatest kindness, and legacy to me, was to gift to me an old, classic Gibson electric guitar when he found out that I’ve been learning to play this instrument. George, I will miss you very much.....
