Sir Gary Christophe passed peacefully on July 20, 2016, in Oakland, California. Gary was a resident of Berkeley for over 30 years. He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Christophe-Neely, his long-time companion, Audrey (Eve) Nyser, and his siblings; Don, Michael, Carol (Finke), Tom, and Diane(Gianni), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gary was born on June 5, 1955 in Berkeley, and raised in Albany, California. He was the fourth in a family of six to parents of Armand and Lorraine. At an early age he demonstrated both an incredible talent in art and the amazing ability to make friends and be loved by everyone he met. He also demonstrated his love of art with his unique and creative collections and for years was known as the man who drove an antique fire engine around Berkeley. Gary was a long-time, valued employee of Anderson Carpet and Linoleum Sales Company, Inc. Additionally, he was a member of E. Clampus Vitus, Chapter #10. Truly, his engaging free spirit is why people loved him.

Gary was one of a kind, kinda crazy but in a good way. He had a heart of gold, and his true talent was art. He could draw, sketch, paint anything! We were engaged many many yrs ago but broke the engagement off. We remained friends, Gary was close to my parents and really close to my dad. Gary would go to my dad to get car advise. My dad would say Get rid of that shit and buy something that runs! They would both laugh every time my dad would tell gary this. Gary was determined to get a car that would out run my dads! This never happened. Gary would stop by and visit my folks and then my dad and him would get going on the car advise I guess it was what they enjoyed chatting about when they were together. Gary will be missed by everyone who knew him. May you R.I.P. Gary Sherry Lee
