Gaetano Maxim Fong, age 55, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Born in San Francisco, CA on December 17, 1969, he was the youngest son of Conrad and Mary Fong. Known affectionately as Paizo, he was raised with his six brothers and sisters in Mill Valley before attending UC Santa Barbara and then USF School of Law.
While raising his family in El Cerrito, Paizo volunteered endlessly throughout the community as a room parent, baseball and softball coach, ABGSL board member and Sting commissioner, and was well-known as a Guy who got things done. He was a jack of all trades, exceptional cook and avid sports fan who truly loved life. Gaetano’s kindness and willingness to lend a hand knew no bounds.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 25 years, Stephanie, his treasured children, Maxwell and Cali, his adored mom, Mary, and cherished siblings Gwilym, Geheris, Gretina, Gabrielle, Corey and Ronald (and their spouses and children). He will be truly missed by his large extended family, his many, many friends, and his best pal Levi. Paizo was genuinely one of a kind and a very special man. He will be forever remembered and never forgotten.

Friends and family are invited to his memorial service on Friday, December 19th at 1pm at Northbrae Community Church, 941 The Alameda, Berkeley, CA. Reception immediately following. Services can also be viewed at https://bit.ly/GaetanoFong. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

Our prayers go out to the Fong family . Very sorry to hear about Paizo’s passing . It’s been many years since I’ve seen him , although still be truly missed .

I just heard and am so sad to hear about Guy’s passing. I so enjoyed the time we spent together coaching Max. Such an amazing man with a great personality and who kept me in check. Allowing the team to use his home for batting practice. Always spending time with his kids with baseball and softball. His beautiful wife Stephanie who was always there with him helping with the team and team functions. Wow. I am so sorry to hear. Love to the family and thinking of Max right now.
