Erica L. Pederson, age 47 of Berkeley passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016. Formerly of London, Ontario, Canada she had resided in Berkeley for the past 15 years. She was a Lab Technician at the University Of California Berkeley’s DNA Sequencing Lab. Erica is survived by her beloved husband Hahns Shin of Berkeley; her Father and Step Mother, David and Deanne Pederson, Mother, Linda Pederson and two sisters, Ingrid and Kristen Pederson, All of Canada. Graveside inurnment services will be held at Sunset View Cemetery, 101 Colusa Ave., at 11:00 on Monday, May 9. A Celebration Of Erica’s life will be held in London, Ontario at a later date.

We drove to Penn. State together and when she needed fortification to continue driving she would say "cookie" which was my cue to pass another cookie. A good sense of humour and unfailing kindness described her. To know her was to care for her. I miss her.

Every spring when we were growing up, Erica would say this poem: "Spring has sprung, the grass is ris I wonder where the birdies is? Birdie, Birdie in the sky Why'd you do that in my eye? I miss Erica very much but am thankful to have wonderful memories of her from our time together at work - from our "laugh out loud" moments to the gratifying occasions when we figured out a customer's super complicated order (Erica was, of course, usually light years ahead of me).
