Born Humbolt Hospital, Albany, CA to Norman G. and Frances C. Pryde. Don resided his entire life in El Cerrito. Graduated from El Cerrito High School and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Married Toni Tezzi, his high school sweetheart, and love of his life, in 1955.
Survived by his wife Toni, children Steven Pryde and wife Debbi, Katherine Pryde Navellier and husband Barry, Daniel Pryde and wife Hillary; grandchildren Nicole Pryde Johnson and husband Dan, Mia Navellier, Noelle Pryde, Allison Navellier, Haley Pryde, Molly Pryde, and great-grandson Brock Johnson. Also survived by his brother, David Pryde and wife Marvelle, and niece, Julie Pryde and nephew, Jefferey Pryde, and many loving family and friends.
Don served in the U.S. Army from June 1956 to June 1958. Don worked over 46 years in his family business, Pastime Hardware/Pastime Club. In his professional career, Don served 25 years on the Board of Directors of Mechanics Bank, 8 years on the Board of Directors and two years as president of Doctors Hospital of Pinole, 10 years on the Board of Directors of Sunset View Cemetery, and 40 years as a dedicated member of the El Cerrito Lions Club.
A memorial tribute to Don will be held on Wednesday, June 26, at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Sunset View Mortuary, Junction of Colusa and Fairmount Avenues, El Cerrito. Contributions in his memory may be made to Sutter Hospice, Acorn Branch of Children’s Hospital, or to your favorite charity.
