Daniel Joseph Michael was born on June 7, 1961, to Rose Ann Aweeka and Patrick Thomas Michael. He is the youngest of 10 children and is survived by his 3 older brothers, David, Patrick (wife/sister-in-law Cee) and John, having lost his oldest brother Tom in 2013, 5 older sisters, Veronica, Rosalie, Mary, Angela and Selma, and Godmother and cousin, Rose Marie.
Daniel, or known to his family as Danny, was born and raised in SF and lived there up until 2025, at which time he moved to a residency in San Lorenzo. As a youngster, he played the violin, sang in the SF Boys Chorus, performed as Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors at the Community Music Center in SF and his mom played the role of his mother, and performed in Oedipus Rex at ACT as the child guide for the blind Seer.
Danny attended 1 year of college and decided to enter the Navy in his early twenties. It was at this time that he became ill and received an honorary medical discharge. Sadly, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and with his mom’s persistence, he was able to be placed in a board and care facility in SF where he lived and worked in their front office for many years. Danny was very well liked there.
Danny had a loving and carefree nature and appreciated all the help he received from his family. He was very independent in spite of the mental health challenges that he faced daily and loved socializing with friends and acquaintances. He was very generous with others. Danny had an outgoing nature, enjoyed walking in his neighborhood and saying hello to people. He loved connecting with others.
