A proud fourth generation descendant on both sides of his family of early pioneer settlers in Lassen County California Dana L. Wemple died on April 1, 2017. Born to Lyle E. and Nadene F. Wemple on September 19, 1930 in Susanville, California he was raised there and attended the local schools. When it came time for higher education he went to the Bay Area attending Stanford (one year), U.C. Berkeley (two years) and UCSF School of Dentistry (four years).
Receiving his DDS degree in 1955 he immediately enlisted in the US Army Dental Corps to fulfill his military service. In 1957 he was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain and returned to the Bay Area. 1957 was an important year. He established his dental practice in Stonestown, San Francisco and married his love Margaret (Peggy) Benedict.
Together with a group of loyal patients he practiced general dentistry and worked with them to manage their tooth travails for forty years retiring in 1997.
He and his wife loved to travel and were fortunate enough to have traveled extensively and well. He enjoyed classical music and was a long time season subscriber to the SF Symphony and Opera. A dedicated fan of professional golf, he was a frustrated player of the game. He loved all things Cal especially the Bears football and basketball teams. Dana had many interests, but the most important focus in his life was the well being of his family. It was always family first and foremost.
Dana is survived by his loving wife Peggy, three children, Timothy (Lisa), Lynn (Michael) and Elizabeth (Carolyn) and five grandchildren, Danny (Erin), Abigail, Lauren, Emily and Stephen – each and every one the favorite.
At his request there will be only a private memorial.
