Heaven just got a little rowdier and a lot more Irish.

Carol Lee Campbell passed away on September 3, 2026 at the age of 87. She died peacefully at her home in El Cerrito, surrounded by family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love and connection that brought joy to all who knew her and enriched many lives.

Carol was born on June 1, 1939 in Pennsylvania to William and Elizabeth Carpenter. When she was four, the Carpenter family moved to Richmond and Carol called herself a California girl for the rest of her 83 years.

More recently, Carol devoted her energy to the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Bayview Aerie #2323) where she helped raise money for charities. She was one of the most active members in the Women’s Auxiliary for 25 years and brought brilliance and joy to any function or event. She was in many leadership roles within the Auxiliary, including serving as Madam President. Her brothers and sisters will miss her greatly.

Carol’s light shown just as brightly in her work life where she worked for 2 prominent California institutions. Wells Fargo Bank employed Carol for 30 years, where she exceeded expectations and rose to the level of Vice President. After she retired from Well Fargo, Carol signed on to the Controller’s office at UC Berkeley and retired after 10 years.

Along with her charity work for the Eagles during retirement, Carol became a world traveler who made connections and lifelong friends wherever she roamed. With Carol, friends quickly became family and she had a lot of different families in many, many places. While our family will miss her, we encourage all who knew her to celebrate Carol every day. She would not want us to live one day in sadness.

Carol was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth and father William, as well as her brother, Jack. She is survived by her eldest son, Terry of Hayward, and his wife Margaret of Scotland. Carol is also survived by her youngest son, Randy, and his wife Lorene. They live in Emerald Hills, CA. Her adopted son, Robert Thorson of Brookings, OR also survives Carol.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Sunset View Chapel, located at 101 Colusa Ave El Cerrito, CA 94530. After the service, a celebration of life will be held at 1pm at The Bayview Eagles Hall, located at 3223 Carlson Blvd, El Cerrito, CA 94530.
