BETTY JEAN MITCHELL
February 21, 1938 – April 28, 2016

Betty Jean Mitchell, 78, died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland, California. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Ms. Mitchell was an 8 year resident of Richmond and prior long-time resident of Oakland and Sacramento. She was a member of Cosmopolitan Baptist Church in Oakland and loved sewing, baking and traveling.

Survived by her loving children, Terrence Mitchell (Joseph Long), Roxanne Mitchell, Damien Mitchell, Deidre Mitchell and Chandra Mitchell; grandchildren, Ciji Mitchell, LaDonna Jackson, Teagan Brown and Larry Mitchell; great grandchildren, Michael Critton III, Amiya Hart, Roy Latson and Jeremiah Latson; brother, Stephen Mitchell; sister, Lillian Mitchell-Sennett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. She was preceded in death by her sons, Corwin Mitchell in 1989 and Mark Mitchell in 2012; and by her granddaughter, Donise Critton in 2007.

Funeral service Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset View Mortuary, top of Fairmount Avenue, El Cerrito. Graveside service Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Sunset View Cemetery.
