Belle Rodriguez “Granny”
Belle, the 5th child of Lawrence and Grace Morgan, departed this life on March 7, 2015. She was born on June 2, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA. She accepted Christ at an early age at Wayland Temple Baptist Church in Philadelphia, the same church of her marriage. At the age of five she was a lead singer in the gospel group with all of her sisters. She eventually left Philadelphia and moved to Hackensack, NJ to be with family. After many years there she and her children migrated to California. She spent the last years of her life in Sacramento where she worked as a legal assistant. She continues to have close ties with all the family no matter where they lived. She was fun loving and full of life even during her years of illness. She lived life on her own terms, and her sense of humor helped her through her many challenges in life. She loved large family gatherings and was an excellent cook.
She is survived by her son Lawrence (Larry) Johnson; daughter and son-in-law Denise Mills and Daniel; Joyce Torres; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Rose Rodriguez; sisters Verma Richardson of Garfield, NJ and Marion (Kitty) Brooks of Stafford, VA. She also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Rodriguez in 1989.
