Barbara Steadham, age 85 of Alamo, CA., passed away on May 16, 2026. She was born on November 21, 1940 in Eunice, New Mexico to Willie and Mildred Unger.

She grew up in Richmond, CA and attended Ells High School, graduating in 1958.

Before moving to Danville, CA in the 70’s, she lived in Concord, raising two children and working at Chevron Chemical – Ortho books division. She retired in 1994.

Throughout the years, Barbara devoted herself to gardening, reading, and playing sports. She was on several soccer teams in the Danville area where she met her husband Luke Steadham. They were married on July 12, 1986.

Barbara & Luke traveled and explored many places together throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Her positive attitude shined through in everything she did and she always found the best in people. She had a creative side that was seen in her collection of bears, scrapbooking, and other crafts she enjoyed doing. She was a dedicated fan of the SF Giants and the Golden State Warriors, never missing a game, be it in person or at home. Later in life, she spent many hours in her yard, enjoying the birds and wildlife. Hummingbirds being her favorite.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Luke Steadham, daughter, Lori DeCaro (Jim) of Dutch Flat, CA and step-daughter Colette Hougey (Rich) of Concord, CA. Granddaughter April Singleton (Hougey) (Kevin), Grandson in-law Lafe Ray and four great-grandchildren; Sonny, Lily, Caleb, & Waverly.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Unger, son, Bryan Duffel, granddaughter, Lauren Ray (Hougey), parents, Willie and Mildred Unger and many other family members.

Service will be held on June 11, 2026 @ 11:00am at Sunset View Cemetery, 101 Colusa Ave., El Cerrito, CA.
