Augustha Heuer, 78 of El Cerrito, CA peacefully transitioned on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 @ 10:20 am from complications from a ruptured blood vessel in her brain.
Augustha was born January 11, 1939 to her late parents Karel and Nidjah de Ruyter in Pekalongan, Indonesia. Augustha was the youngest of four children. She is preceded in death by her brother, Johan de Ruyter and is survived by her sister Bertha Jellema and Jack de Ruyter. Augustha was a survivor of a Japanese concentration camp in Wonopringo, Indonesia during World War II. She relocated to the Netherlands before immigrating to the United States in 1966. She was united in holy matrimony November 19, 1966 to Fransz C. W. Heuer in Paradise, CA. From this union were born three children, Mychael Anthony Heuer, Patricia Arlene Heuer, and Gabriel Alexander Heuer, whom preceded his father and mother in death. She received Jesus Christ into her life at an early age.
Augustha had a great work ethic and was diverse in her skills. With the equivalent of a high school diploma, she was successful in various jobs. In the Netherlands, she worked for the Dutch government as a secretary. When she came to live in the United States, she worked for over 25 years as a shipping and receiving clerk for Holm’s Patches. Later, Augustha went on to work at the famous Neldam’s Bakery in Oakland, CA. She retired in 2004 to help take care of her grandson Alexander in Olympia, WA for the next ten years while her son and daughter in law coached colligate women’s basketball at Evergreen State College. During her retirement, Augustha spent her time helping others with cooking, cleaning and driving them around. She was a giving, caring and dedicated friend and family member. She also enjoyed helping her children with her grandchildren. She loved traveling to visit her children and grandchildren both in Olympia, WA and in Los Angeles, CA. Augustha enjoyed going to casinos, gardening, cooking and watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Dancing with the Stars. She also loved watching sports especially when her children and grandchildren were playing. In addition, she was a long-time fan of the Golden State Warriors and really enjoyed the Splash Brothers. Go Dubs!!!
She leaves to cherish her memory her son Mychael A. Heuer of Olympia, WA; her daughter Patricia A. Heuer of El Cerrito, CA; her daughter-in-law Monica Heuer of Olympia, WA; her grandson, Darius Heuer of San Rafael, CA; her grandson, Alexander Heuer of Olympia, WA; her granddaughter Leila Ward of El Cerrito, CA; her granddaughter Zayda Ward of El Cerrito, CA; seven nieces Lenie Barink-de Rutyer, Jeanny Hondelink, Ancis Staalman, and Joan Kempers-de Rutyer of the Netherlands, Joan Jellema-Lambert of El Dorado Hills, CA; Shirley Howe and Linda Lee of Paradise, CA; Six nephews Willy de Rutyer, Frits de Ruyter and Jeffrey de Ruyter of the Netherlands; Raymond Jellema, Oscar Jellema and Rene Jellema of Paradise, CA and a host of other relatives and friends in Indonesia, the Netherlands and the United States.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Sunset View Cemetery, 101 Colusa Avenue in El Cerrito, CA on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 12 Noon. Immediately following the Celebration of Life Services, there will be a Repast at: 5340 Barrett Avenue, El Cerrito, CA 94530.
