Always taken too soon are the ones we hold most dear, time the indiscriminate unforgiving reaper we fear; never truly knowing how, or when it’s our time to bow. We take each gift of a day, making the best to live and play; through hardships and strife, we suffer and overcome this life.
With a peaceful sigh, Anthony Demetrius Cucinitti breathed his last on April 1st, 2023, and the world is dimmer without the light of an incredible man. His legacy and memory lives on in all the lives he’s impacted through the short 43 years that many have had the privilege of experiencing with him. His warmth and kindness, his joyous smile and infectious laughter, his understanding eyes and big caring heart will be remembered always.
Always one to think of others, he always made sure everyone felt welcome in all situations he found himself in. From making sure you had the right drink in hand, to providing that big warm bear hug at the right moment, or sharing that piece of random obscure trivia to lighten the mood, he tried to take care of everyone. A master at planning, he would assess how those he cared for could also enjoy whatever experiences he found himself in, be it an amazing new restaurant or an excursion to one of the many national and state parks he would enjoy exploring, maintaining his well-deserved title of Domestic Project Manager.
With his passion for gardening, he always enjoyed helping things grow. Having a collection of unique plantings, including many salvaged cuttings which he restored to full flourish, he took great care in providing what each plant needed. This passion extended to his various relationships as he helped to care for his family both chosen and biological, leaving each a better person for having crossed paths with him and embodying a part of his light with them.
Always missing him, and forever grateful for having him in their life, Anthony is survived by his husband, Charlie Bolante; his partners, MJ Merchant, Shawn Poling, and Alex Turiano; his best friend Amy Zink; his favorite aunt Virginia Trenery; his brother Nick Cucinitti; and all of his Bear Lair family (Rueben, Rex, Rob, Jamin, Len, to name a few).
With so much more to experience, those that remain will strive to continue to live out those experiences, if not with him, for him. Though no longer part of this physical realm, he will live on as part of each of them as they share his legacy, memories, and light into the future.
Anthony, with his uniqueness, warmth, and overall joi-de-vivre leaves a heavy silhouette as a reminder of the impact he’s had on each of us, and all the parts of him we will surely miss. Yet, in his spirit, he would want all those he cares about to continue to live in the joy he has worked hard to cater for each of us. Forever thankful, forever privileged, forever honored by such an amazing man. Until we meet again, see you later!
