Alicia E. Carty, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on August 1, 2019 at the age of 101. She was born in the port of Callao, Lima-Peru on December 27, 1917 to Carlos Carty and Rosa Velarde.
She was predeceased by her husband Jose, son Jose Carlos and daughter Rosa Ines, survived by her daughter Maria and sons Miguel and Juan.
Alicia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she loved her family more than anything.
She was a hard worker and her passion was helping others– she was a teacher, a farmer, a cake decorator, a fashion designer, a matchmaker, a counselor, entrepreneur, above all a great cook, there was nothing she could not do. Definitely a creative spirit full of kindness and compassion– with a great sense of humor.
She left Peru in the early 1960’s, settled down in San Francisco, CA and later she moved to the East Bay, El Cerrito, CA. She brought all her five children with her when she first traveled to the USA.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 12 noon at Sunset View Mortuary Chapel, 101 Colusa Avenue, El Cerrito, CA. Burial to follow at same location.
