Aldona was my mother's dear friend. I met her when I was only three in 1963. My grandmother and Aldona's mother would sit side by side in San Francisco chatting away in English and Polish - both transplants to a new city with daughters that were dear friends. It is hard for me to remember a time without Aldona. She became a kind of aunt to me - watching my wins and losses and always cheering me on. She was an inspiration for me as a girl with her passion for every adventure outside. She recounted multiple trips to the top of Half Dome and camping with new friends there - which is no longer allowed. She and my mother took a rafting trip on the Grand Canyon together in their 70's. They biked the coastal highway in California, skied together countless times in Tahoe and boogie boarded the waves in Santa Cruz. I - and truly everyone she touched - is better for her strength, cheer and ability to live life to the fullest. She shared that in her youth her pet name was Grizinna and that is what our family called her. As my children grew they called her Aunt Aldona and she was a fixture on our annual camping trips to Mosquito Lake and a regular part of Halloween and Easter. She is sorely missed by all of us and we send so much love to her family. Aldona truly is part of our family - and we will hold her close always.

Alana has always been like family to us Lenigk's, I first met Aldona when I was 13 years old when both my mother,Margot, and Aldona worked for the Ledford family in Piedmont.we went on many trips with her when she got her Brand New 1954 or 55 Plymouth. Margot and Aldona also visited my brother Dieter and his family in Germany several years ago. I will always remember her as a very caring and Happy person and she was always up for a good challenge such as learning how to water ski at the age of 65 or 70 at our weekend Delta House. We have known and 💕 her for the past 73 years of her life and have many good memories and Pictures of her and she will always be in our hearts. May she rest in peace. Reiner,Mary,Justin, Jennifer,Dieter,Jochen,Hartmut and all of our grand kids.
