Addie Kasari, age 90, passed away in Pinole on July 24, 2015, in the loving care of her family. She was born in Butler, Minnesota, on July 7, 1925, to John and Mary Dykhoff. Raised in a small farm town in Minnesota, she moved to California and married Bill Kasari on Sept. 27, 1946, her loving husband of 64 years who preceded her in death. They ultimately settled in El Cerrito. She is also preceded in death by her parents, brothers George and James, sisters Genevieve Pettit, Sylvia Rudolph and Marion Gagnon, and son-in-law Chris Gunnell. She will be deeply missed by daughter Judy Gunnell, son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Debbey Kasari, of Pinole; brothers Gerald, Donald (Mary) and Robert of MN; sister Bonnie (Duane Sager) of TX; grandchildren Jamie (Brad Cooper), Randi (Tom Bittner), Brandon (Brianne), Justin (Sarah) and Lisa (Cameron Toy); great-grandchildren Addison, Brooke, Brady and Cole Cooper, Avery Costa, Bradley and Sidney Bittner, Lyla, Shelby and Evelyn Kasari.
Addie was a member of Albany and Pinole Valley Bowling Leagues for 30 years. She loved a good card game or cribbage match, enjoyed pinochle games with her friends at Pinole and San Pablo Senior Centers and hollered many a “bingo” at Gilman Street and Marina Bay. Addie was loved by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, generous heart, selflessness and warm hugs. She loved people and sharing stories, she never met a stranger and was a woman of deep faith.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass at St. John’s Catholic Church, 11150 San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito on Saturday, August 29th at 2:30pm, followed by a celebration of life.
